Opus and the Tumble Creek team really want to thank you for all the time and materials that were donated to the Rebuilding Together project in Auburn. The big grand finale event was today and the family was so overwhelmed, surprised and grateful.

Community service is a passion for us. We feel that it is our civic duty and social responsibility to care for our friends and neighbors, especially those in need. Claffey’s Painting is grateful to have the ability to participate in the many exciting projects and programs that arise each year.

We are proud to be part of the Snoqualmie Valley Chamber of Commerce. Our general manager, Kevin Kalberg serves as a Board member of the Chamber of Commerce. Kevin is also the Chairperson of the East King County Chambers of Commerce Legislative Coalition, an advocacy group for small-businesses in Washington State. In addition, Kevin also serves as Vice President of the Greater Maple Valley Black Diamond Chamber of Commerce.

Some wonderful community groups we've had the privilege to assist:

Vine Maple Place

Vine Maple Place is a Christian organization that provides transitional housing and support services to homeless families with children to help them build lives of hope, stability, and greater self-sufficiency. Recognizing the urgent need for affordable housing for homeless parents and children, several Maple Valley churches joined with the community in 2000 to acquire and refurbish four rundown duplexes in Maple Valley and Vine Maple Place was born. They focus on the emotional, physical, and spiritual needs of the families here as well as the need for safe, affordable housing.

Tree House Foster Home 2004

The Friends of Youth is a local youth services organization that provides enrichment and transitional care to at-risk children. On June 22 2004, Claffey’s painted the Friends of Youth Tree House Foster Home in North Bend, WA. Our crew painted the interior and exterior of this facility and the paint was donated by the Issaquah Sherwin Williams. Friends of Youth does outstanding work and Claffey’s was thrilled to be of service. What a fun way to spend a summer day!

Rebuilding Together (Christmas in April)

Rebuilding Together, formerly known as Christmas in April, is part of a national organization that coordinates volunteers and donors in providing free comprehensive home repair services to elderly or disabled homeowners, and low-income families with children. During this one-day home improvement blitz-style makeover, thousands of homes across the country are renovated by volunteer labor.

Nominations for house projects come from neighbors, churches, community service centers and support agencies. Claffey’s Painting joined with Burnstead Homes and many fantastic trades to transform the home of a Monroe couple in just two days. We look forward the many families that we can help with Rebuilding Together.

Claffey's has participated in this program since 2003. In 2007, teaming up with Opus and the Tumble Creek team, with donated services and suppliles, a family was presented with a brand new house inside and out.

Snoqualmie Ridge
Blitz Build 2001

Habitat for Humanity International is a nonprofit, non-denominational housing organization.  Since 1976, Habitat has built more than 100,000 houses in 79 countries, including some 30,000 houses across the United States. Homeowner families are chosen according to their need; their ability to repay the no-profit, no-interest mortgage; and their willingness to work.  Habitat houses are sold to partner families at no profit.  In addition to a down payment and monthly mortgage payments, homeowners invest hundreds of hours of their labor–sweat equity–into building their home and the homes of others.

Last year Claffey’s participated in the mighty Habitat "Blitz Build" project at Snoqualmie Ridge.  Blitz Build was a project in which 2,500 volunteers gathered over 12 days to build 20 new homes on land donated by Weyerhaeuser Real Estate Company at its Snoqualmie Ridge planned community. Six of Claffey’s painters helped on four homes during two days of the project. We found that the involvement in large-scale, challenging volunteer projects is exactly the kind of charity we love to be a part of!
